{"id":1416,"date":"2010-03-07T10:59:35","date_gmt":"2010-03-07T16:59:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alexblock.net\/?p=1416"},"modified":"2010-03-07T10:59:35","modified_gmt":"2010-03-07T16:59:35","slug":"historic-dc-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.alexblock.net\/blog\/2010\/03\/07\/historic-dc-maps\/","title":{"rendered":"Historic DC Maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the same vein as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexblock.net\/blog\/?p=1329\" target=\"_blank\">UCLA&#8217;s Hypercities maps<\/a> I&#8217;ve discussed previously, I recently ran across some more historical maps from Shannon <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welovedc.com\/2010\/03\/05\/more-cool-historic-maps\/\" target=\"_blank\">over at We Love DC<\/a>.\u00a0 The maps themselves <a href=\"http:\/\/www.psittalux.com\/blog\/?p=88\">are ok<\/a>, not nearly as detailed or interesting as the Hypercities maps, taking the historic maps and re-projecting them onto an interactive Google maps interface.<\/p>\n<p>More interesting to me, however, is an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.welovedc.com\/2009\/12\/18\/keep-living-in-the-past\/\" target=\"_blank\">older post of Shannon&#8217;s<\/a> that directs you to David Rumsey&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.davidrumsey.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">historical map archive<\/a>, as well as a <a href=\"http:\/\/rumsey.geogarage.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">world-wide index<\/a> &#8211;
